Musical Theater, Why I Chose To Blog Instead
Theater musical productions like “The Book Of Mormon” which hit an all time one day box office smash in London have always been a passion of mine.
According to Liam O’Brien who wrote an article for The Independent,
The Book of Mormon has scored the highest one-day box office sale in London’s theatre history.
Between 10am and midnight on Friday, punters grabbed £2,107,972 worth of tickets to the West End musical, which tells the story of two Mormon missionaries sent to spread the word in Uganda.
Yesterday, some 150,000 new tickets were released, allowing fans frustrated at not being able to secure seats at preview shows a chance to see the multiple Tony-award winning production by the creators of South Park.
Writing huge theater box office hits was a dream of mine as I was growing up in my teen aged years participating in numerous musical theater productions.
In high school, I had been cast in lead and supporting roles for several major theater productions in my home town of Wichita Falls Texas.
This passion for musical theater became even more prevalent as I entered into college as a music major freshman.
I did receive a degree in Music and Theater graduating as an accomplished playwright with local notoriety from Georgia State University.
Rather than going the the local theater playhouse route, I made a career choice while attending college to enter into full time music ministry for a number of reasons:
- Every church had a stage.
- Every church had a ready made audience.
- Every church could create a budget for musical theater productions.
- Every church had a source of members from which to chose a cast.
To say the least, my first career position as a music minister went very well!
The congregation was very excited to have a way to produce the musicals they wanted.
This opened up a new avenue for them to present their message to a broader audience.
We knew that people in general are more open to hearing a message in a musical theater setting than any other venue or setting.
Throughout the many years in my musical theater career, I have enjoyed performing and working on numerous stages and on television sets throughout the United States and internationally.
Why I Chose To Blog and Leave the Musical Theater
Without going into too much detail, I will admit that I came to a point in my musical theater career that I wanted a break from all the pressure associated with the musical theater.
Yes, a musical theater producer has to wear a lot of different hats!
At times, we have to be:
- Mother and Father, a strong authority figure
- A Friend and Big Brother, a consoler and comforter
- A Belligerent Boss, a task master
- A Boy Wonder, having to perform miracles with what resources we had
To be quite honest, even though there was a lot of pride and satisfaction in my musical theater career, I was just weary of the huge doses of stress before and during productions!
I needed to choose a different career where I still could reach an audience with my message but with way less stress!
So this is why I chose to blog instead.
The Internet Is Now My Theater Stage
With the internet as my new stage, I can now continue to share my works with a much broader audience.
As a result, I have less stress in my life and enjoy a greater amount of freedom as well.
To top it off, I can make a lot more money as a blogger than I can as a musical theater productions director!
These factors really keeps me motivated because I have the leisure of sharing my message while getting paid handsomely in the process.
All I do is blog daily, tell others, and get paid!
Recently, I made $1500 in one day using this simple 3 step formula!
Now where else can you do that?
Blog daily, tell others, and get paid!
Let me ask you this…
Are you stressed out with your career?
Are you ready to make a change and reduce the overwhelming “mountains of work related stress” in your life?
Are you looking for a way to learn a new career and get paid in the process too?
